New Delhi: The interest of people has increased towards electric vehicles as petrol and diesel prices are skyrocketing in India. Electric vehicles have been in the news for the past few days and interestingly, two new electric scooters have entered the country.
Cab aggregator-turned-vehicle maker Ola has launched its first electric scooter, while Bengaluru-based start-up Simple Energy has also launched its first flagship scooter, which has become the country's highest driving range scooter in terms of driving range.

Ola Electric S1 and S1 Pro scooters have been launched recently in the premium electric scooter segment. The ex-showroom price of S1 electric scooter is Rs 99,999, while the ex-showroom price of S1 Pro has been kept at Rs 129,999. Ola Electric has partnered with several banks to offer EMI options to consumers. The EV manufacturer claims that the EMI options will start at Rs 2,999 per month.
Both the scooters have been loaded with a large battery capacity of 3.97 kWh. Ola S1 Pro claims a range of 181 km on a single full charge.
The battery of the Ola S1 Pro being a higher capacity unit, it takes longer to get fully charged. It takes 6 hours 30 minutes for a full charge.
The company claims that the S1 Pro's battery can be charged up to 50 per cent in just 18 minutes and that should be enough to deliver a driving range of 75 km. At the same time, the top speed of this scooter is 115 kmph. Ola claims that the S1 Pro can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in just 3 seconds.
Bengaluru-based electric vehicle (EV) startup Simple Energy has launched its first electric scooter in the country and it comes with the highest driving range in the country. The starting price of this scooter with a great look and powerful electric motor has been kept at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The electric scooter from Simple Energy will get a 4.8 kWh portable lithium-ion battery pack.
Notably, the company claims that the Simple Loop Charger can charge an electric scooter enough to cover a distance of 2.5 km in 60 seconds. The company has said that the work of setting up the charging infrastructure will start soon after the launch of Simple One.
The company will also install more than 300 public fast chargers across the country in the next three to seven months.
The Simple One e-scooter can cover a distance of 203 km in Eco mode and 236 km in Indian Drive Cycle (IDC) conditions on a single full charge and it can cruise at 105 kmph. Apart from these, this scooter can accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in 2.95 seconds.
The scooter has a power output of 4.5 KW and a torque of 72 Nm.
The Ather 450X is the flagship electric scooter of electric vehicle manufacturer Ather Energy, which was launched in January last year. The Ather 450X is now the undisputed leader in the premium electric scooter segment. The scooter has a powerful motor and the price of Ather 450X Electric in Pune is Rs 1,22,916. On the other hand, in Delhi it is available for Rs 1,13,416.
The scooter has a 6kW electric motor that generates 8bhp power and 26Nm torque. Ather Energy claims that its electric scooter Ather 450X comes with a proven range of 116 km on a single full charge. However, to give customers an idea of the real-world range, the company claims a 'real range' of 85 km for the 450X.
The Ather 450X e-scooter gets a 2.9kwh lithium-ion battery pack, which also supports fast charging. Talking about the charging time, the battery of Ather 450X can be fully charged in 4 hours 45 minutes via a regular charger. The battery of the Ather 450X can be charged at 1.5 km per minute on the company's fast-charging network, known as Ather Grid.
Bajaj Chetak launched its first electric scooter last year. The scooter is available in two variants. The entry-level Urbane variant and the top-end Premium variant. This e-scooter gets a 3.8kW power and 4.1kW peak power electric motor. The rear wheels get power due to the special automatic transmission given in the scooter.
The scooter comes with a 3kWh lithium-ion battery. After full charging, this scooter can cover a range of 95 km in Eco mode and 85 km in Sport mode. However, this range depends on different driving styles and road conditions. It gets features like LED headlamps with DRL, a fully digital LCD instrument cluster, and smartphone connectivity.
The Tak electric scooter has an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,42,620 in Pune.
TVS iQube was launched as the first electric scooter from the domestic motorcycle manufacturer. With an attractive look and design, this e-scooter gets a powerful engine and a great driving range. Recently, the vehicle manufacturer launched this electric scooter in Pune. Earlier, the company launched its iQube electric scooter in New Delhi in early February this year. Its ex-showroom price in Delhi starts at Rs 1.08 Lakh.
